Classification and Selecting Techniques of Three Types of Globe Valves

As one of the most important types of globe values, the globe value plays a vital role in the aerospace industry. As an important component of space equipment, the globe value provides the functions of medium transportation, shut-off, and regulation. In globe valve manufacturer, Its sealing performance directly affects the safe and reliable operation of space equipment. Studying the influencing factors and laws of the sealing characteristics of typical globe values has guiding significance for the structural design of sealing pairs of valves, thereby improving the sealing performance and reliability of valves. Next, let's take a look at the types of globe values and selection techniques together.

The following are several commonly used types of globe values

Straight-through globe value

In the straight-through or Y-shaped globe value, the flow path of the valve body is slanted to the main flow path, so the degree of disruption of the flow state is smaller than that of conventional globe values, and the pressure loss through the instrument valve is correspondingly small.

Angular globe value

In the angular globe value, the fluid only needs to change direction once, so the pressure drop through this instrument valve is smaller than that of the conventional globe value.

Plunger globe value

This type of globe value is a variation of a conventional globe value. In this instrument valve, the valve disc and valve seat are usually designed based on the plunger principle. The valve disc is polished into a plunger and connected to the valve stem, and the sealing is achieved by two elastic sealing rings sleeved on the plunger. The two elastic sealing rings are separated by a sleeve and pressed tightly around the plunger by the load applied to the valve cover by the valve cover nut. The elastic sealing ring can be replaced and can be made of various materials. This instrument valve is mainly used for "on" or "off", but with specially designed plungers or special sleeves, it can also be used to regulate flow.

Globe value selection guide

The axis of the valve stem of the globe value is perpendicular to the sealing surface of the valve seat. The opening or closing stroke of the valve stem is relatively short, and it has a very reliable cutting action, making this instrument valve very suitable for medium cutting or regulating and throttling use. Once the globe value is in the open state, there is no contact between the sealing surface of its valve seat and valve disc, so it has a very reliable cutting action and is very suitable for medium cut-off or regulating and throttling use.

Once the globe value is in the open state, there is no contact between the sealing surface of its valve seat and valve disc, so its sealing surface has less mechanical wear. Since the valve seat and valve disc of most globe values are relatively easy to repair or replace sealing components without removing the entire instrument valve from the pipeline, it is very suitable for situations where the instrument valve and pipeline are welded together. The flow direction of the medium through this type of instrument valve changes, so the flow resistance of the globe value is higher than that of other instrument valves.
